Products Endorsed 12/10
While watching Jimmy Kimmel Live! I noticed one of their skits was him along with other celebrities telemarketing items for sale and that the proceeds went to a charity. It makes him look good as well as the people joining him in fighting the cause. This new way of advertising brings a larger audience to RED that they couldn't have gotten from other techniques. By making shopping a charitable cause people will feel compelled to buy it. The endorsement of famous people attaches their name to it as well. Consumers think that they are saving something or getting a little piece of someone by buying the RED products.
Jimmy Kimmel isn't the only late night host to do this either. It's becoming the norm for product placement that people don't even tend to recognize that it is advertising anymore.
Although I love Jimmy Kimmel , I do see late night hosts do this constantly in order to raise money for either a charity or just for advertising purposes because they were paid to do so. However it's great that people like him who have a large following use their platform for good causes with good intentions.
